We are back from an extended weekend at Panama City Beach! Around 2000 college students gathered for a weekend of praise. Sunday morning they brought our team on stage and had our friends gather around and lay hands on us as the entire assembly prayed over us. It was a very overwhelming experience. Looking around the stage at the people who had come up in support of us was emotional to say the least. My mind raced through the different roles these people have played in our lives. These are people whose love for us is so evident, people who are a little more like family than friends. Their support means so much.
On Sunday night an offering was taken up, part of it for our team. Again, the emotions flooded as we watched college students pour out what they had to support God's work in Geita. $4500 was raised for our team! What an amazing amount for a bunch of "poor college students". We feel so blessed to have been a part of the conference.
Throughout the weekend, I couldn't help but reflect on where we were at this time last year. I remember so clearly wanting to know how God wanted to use us. It was at Gulf Coast Getaway last year that Christie and I worked the T-Shirt booth together. She told me about their team and their plans for Geita. Then, at the end of the weekend as we were all getting in our cars to leave, Brett popped the question, "Why don't you guys go with us?" And now, a year later, we are preparing to leave. God has done a lot in this last year, and I had a wonderful time this weekend reflecting on it, and praising Him for it.
I've posted a few pics from the weekend. I'll try to get one from when they prayed over us and post it later.
